I am interested in people, places and the worlds that exist beyond my own experience. My work moves between documentary photography, reportage and personal exploration. I am drawn to places where people live, work, compete, believe, endure or preserve something that matters to them.

I am particularly interested in questions of society, change, work, borders, tradition and human endeavour. Often, a project begins with curiosity rather than a predetermined thesis: I go somewhere, spend time, listen, observe and try to understand what holds a place or a community together.
Alongside photography, I work as a teacher of economics in Germany. That background has shaped the way I look at the world: I am interested not only in what something looks like, but also in the structures, histories and choices behind it.
Photography, for me, is a way of learning. It allows me to enter unfamiliar environments, meet people I would otherwise never encounter and return with a more precise understanding of the world.
This website brings together those encounters and observations.
